NLR Class75 build

Recommended Posts

Gad! My first topic on RMWeb. This will follow the construction of the GEM/ Lychett Manor goods tank loco. It won't be made to represent 58850 on the Bluebell, but one of its fellow engines that escaped the scrapmans torch after the closure of the Cromford & High Peak.

Anyway.....

The frames, bearings, crossheads and connecting rods were done yesterday.

Today I made up the cylinders, slidebars and started the brake gear. I wasn't looking forward to doing the cylinders, as it's always seemed one of those "too tricky" jobs. But I managed it quite well.

The instructions say to use a bit of wire, or scrap etch to make a support for the slidebars. Unfortunately, the wheels obstruct the slot in the frames, so I bent the supports to clear the wheels.
