Firstly, welcome!

1 - No!

2 - Usually about ten-ish in the morning with simultaneous threads appearing here on RMWeb (which is usually when the server crashes!!)

3 - Trust me, you really don't want to ask that question!!!

I'd quite like them to release their E4 in wartime black, I've been holding off repainting B473 just incase :)

Would not taking the crest and numbers off a BR unlined black one be easier?  They come off nice and cleanly I have discovered.

The Class 20 must be due its retool. Said it 4 years in a row so its gotta happen soon as the firm works its way through retooling the entire diesel range.

Id rather see some painted samples of the Mk2f coaches and DBSO with the tinted glazing fitted , Stowage vans and maybe the class 90 electric in Inter City livery.........

That sums it up nicely - not too much in the way of new toolings, and a few new liveries for existing / imminent models. Let's them play catch-up with everything that has not yet appeared.

There will be one big news grabbing new tooling, a retool of an existing model (ex split chassis or the mooted Class 20 revamp), something duplicating something already recently announced (or about to be announced by Hornby, think Lord Nelson here...) and something nobody saw coming whatsoever.

This will then be followed by lots of grumbles about long ago announced models that are still at the design stage (expect the words '94xx', '24/1' and 158 to appear in this category...).

What I am most interested in and usually gets the least discussion is the buildings and associated bits and bobs.  Some good stuff there and yet rarely talked about as everyone heads directly to the dissection of the big ticket item announcements.

Meanwhile over in N gauge, a tumbleweed will pass through largely unnoticed.

AS suggested, there is a difference between what will be in the 2018 range (physically delivered) and what will be announced in 2018 for future release.

I think we will see the Southern version of the LSBCR Atlantic, the missing Birdcage coaches, the 009 range (Baldwin and wagons), Mk 2F coaches, 45t breakdown crane, retooled J72.

What they will announce is up for a three week jamboree of frothing.

My guesses for Bachmann will be;

1. NER P3 / LNER J27
2. BR Standard 2MT

3. Class 319 EMU.

4. Class 110 DMU

Release for the NRM will be LNW Hardwick or Wainwright D class.

Also rans; Class 20 retool, Class 55 retool, Lord Nelson, Class 3MT.

Further liveries for class 158 announced - and should be done in same production run but wont be.

New liveries for class 37 - BR Green, BR Blue.

New liveries for class 47 - Rail operations group, Scotrail with blue stripe, BR Green (current repaint like 47805/47501)

New liveries for class 66 - GBRF celeb - Chinook/HMS Argyl, Freightliner.

No new coaching stock.

Some private owner wagons. Outside chance of KSA Rail Cube Wagon.

My guess is that you get your wish, as the loco/coach/wagon process capacity seems very limited, whereas they can get buildings/bits and bobs out: and they need to announce something new. Unless there's a remedy to:

... grumbles about long ago announced models that are still at the design stage...

... to be combatted by manufacture of the L&Y rhubarb wagon (BR telegraphic code LAX) and the GW 'Special Siphon' (BR code ENEM) in order to relieve the troubling internal blockage.

It has been published before that Bachmann have the capacity to bring 9 products to market at a time. ie CAD/Tooling. Thus, lets say 4 of them are steam (which I know nothing about) this leaves 2018 with 5 possible projects.

Now this is what fascinates me, as I have always found the statement of 9 projects mysterious and I look to see can it be supported by evidence this year.

Seeing we have seen the Class 90, Mk2f and crane progress through to EP, the 5 possible projects can be split further:

Previously announced, yet to be tooled:

1. Class 20/3

2. Class 158

3. Class 117

New headline tooling for 2018, my predictions.

4. Class's 375/377/387 Electrostar EMU. It is either going to be Hornby or Bachmann developing this one. Seemingly, Bachmann have a better working relationship with Bombardier, thus lets hope we get a super detailed Electrostar.

5. Class 37/6 with wi-pac lights. Seeing as the 20/3 was announced last year, along with 37099 receiving lighting modifications. The 37/6 in 3-4 liveries is a natural next step.

Possible other re-tool would be the BDA Bolster C wagon to accommodate the MXA Lobster in DB colours.

As for re-liveries (modern - as that is all I know), though I love the suggestion of the Jeremy Hosking's BR Green on 47501/805 and ROG on 47813, but this shall be for ViTrains who hold the tooling for the roof grill modifications. Bachmann do not.

- Colas 70/8 - Colas with revised safety helmet

- Class 66 - Freightliner with G&W, GBRf revised livery and another DRS 66 (Kingmoor 301)

- Class 57/3 - DRS Green fade and WCR

- Class 37 - Another DRS 37/4 either 37419 or 37425.

I would like to see further liveries announced on the upcoming class 158, featuring at least GWR and Northern. I would also like to see a modified Mk2f DBSO in DRS with two TSOs and one BSO. Would be risky if they were left to be announced in 2019, seeing that both the Cumbrian and Anglian sets shall be withdrawn early to mid 2019. Actually, same with Scotrail on the Mk2f. Seeing as a few thousand Class 68s have sold in the livery, would be a good seller to produce the coaches in Scotrail before they with withdrawn in early to mid 2018.

As for the curveball, totally unexpected new model. Seeing that the BR crane just looked wonderful. How about a modern Kirow 1200 in Colas, BB, Volker and NR liveries. Okay a little too out there!! Ill settle for a re-tooled/DCC ready Class 170. Would be good timing with the Electrostar being announced.

As much as we think Bachmanns delays are bad. Waiting for Vitrains would take even longer I think... fairly obvious they have gone the way of the Dodo.

With SLW in market, It's unlikely Bachmann will now produce a 24/1,  the 158 retool should arrive at some point in the future..................

Yes but that means buying a third E4 when I already have B473 which I want to at least renumber to slightly later 2473, of course I'm willing to buy a third if one in Southern Sunshine comes out otherwise I'll make do with the 2 I've got, the other being 2517.

Vitrains have recently brought out some Aln 668 series 1800 railcars in original and XMPR liveries. Vitrains is very much alive and well and manufacturing models in H0 scale.

They just haven't been commissioned to manufacture anything more in 00.

That said, the T.A.F. EMU which they have promised seems to have disappeared off the radar.
