Maybe you might like to return again? 2019 or 2020?

Regards, Stan

You're very kind Stan and I would love to but........the "powers that be" have decided that I am no longer "fit for purpose" and so I have Meopham on E-Bay as I type. However I am being allowed a much smaller layout with restricted distance travelling, local only!

Perth to me is local and so please contact me again some where nearer 2020 and if I'm fit, "I'll be back".

Ta ever so!

Our exhibition manager is keeping me is suspense about some "exciting layouts" he has booked for this year - sounds intriguing.  Nevertheless I have managed to get out of him we are expecting 42 layouts and the total number of stands will be around 100 as has become normal for us.  He also tells me he has already booked 9 layouts for 2019.  But that is for another day.

Once I get the gen out of him for this year I will post it on the original post for this topic.

it certainly is  a good day out, will be even more so when we get HSTs on the Glasgow - Perth route , is that 2019?   Meanwhile I think where Perth scores is the variety of layouts it commands from far afield . In this respect it is better than Model Rail Scotland which tends to have layouts from AMRSS members and a few headliners . That's not to denigrate the AMRSS layouts , many of them are very fine , but you do tend to see them quite a lot if you visit most of the exhibitions the the West Central belt.  Perth always has a higher proportion of  layouts from further afield and therefore of more interest because not seen before.  My favourite was the big Western Region terminous, probably about 10 years ago now  West something.

Westford, I expect http://www.westfordmodellers.co.uk/

When I lived in Glasgow I always tried to get to the Perth show. The most memorable exhibit for me was Richard Chown's Allendenac http://home.btconnect.com/Enhance-Ecosse/Allendenac.html

Don't quite know how you would quantify layouts from further afield, but here's some detail.

Below is Model Rail Scotland Visiting layouts

Of the Visiting Layouts 14 are on there first outing to Scotland of which 2 are on a debut outing - this is not bad going....

On the AMRSS layouts 1/3 are there first showing at Model Rail Scotland.

If you attend every show of course you are going to see layouts that you have seen before, but of course the same layout can be tweaked to run say a different era that still provides great entertainment for visitors.

Glen Dochart O Scotland
Mordaunt Street O Scotland
Lochaber O Scotland
Aberdeen Kirkhill OO Scotland
Acton Parkway OO WCML
Aldbourne OO9 England
Broadford EM Australian Railways
Cameo Callaton 2mm FS BR (NE)
Canada Street EM BR
Chebstone OO England
Clifton & Lowther N WCML
Coppell OO NW England
Dalby Wood OO BR
Dunnlakin N Scotland
Friday Bridge EM BR (E)
Georgemass Junction OO Scotland
Gresten HOe Austria
Karolina Falls ON30 USA
Mosal Dale N LMS
Newhaven Harbour OO NSE
Triang Intercontinental N/A International
Franwood                     TMD OO uk

Tend to agree regarding seeing the same layouts, I am more than happy to see the same layout several times at different exhibitions over the years. I for looking forward to seeing Kirkhill and Georgemass Junction again. Especially since Kirkhill has been modified since I saw it at Perth a few years ago.

Anyway have updated the OP with the most upto date list for Perth 2018.

Before this bragging about distances travelled gets out of hand, I can report the shortest distance travelled to a show was 4.5 miles! That would be to Blankenberge in Belgium.

Three miles were travelling from home here in Hull to the P & O ferry in King George dock which is a considerably shorter distance than to the Hull M.R.S exhibition. The other 1.5 miles was from Zeebrugge to the casino in Blankenberge and would you believe it, our second team got lost. I'll never tell anyone who it was, your secret is safe with me Mally!

Just one last word on distances... my personal travelling distance from my railway room to Dewars Centre is around 1 mile...
