Just a few notes on the build of a 4mm scale GWR 645 class open cab pannier tank in EM gauge.

This is the SE Finecast 1854 kit with a few modifications.

Modified valances (Wolverhampton style)

Modified coupling rods

Modified front guard irons

Handrail changes

Toolbox changes

Bunker changes

New false boiler

Sandpipers

Reach rod

Detailed cab interior

......and any other details I may add on the way from the photographs.

So far the basic chassis and body are assembled, and the tanks are being modified to take the false boiler.

The loco is due to run on my Hembourne layout once completed, see the thread in the Cameo layouts section.

Finished fitting the boiler to the running plate, added some handrails and other detail. The tricky part was getting the tanks smooth on the join without losing all the rivet detail. Once painted and weathered hopefully it will look ok. Next up I shall make the dummy boiler which will form part of the chassis, along with some more detail on the body.

Finished the body detail except for the lamp irons and brake pipes. In the background is a Wills Metro awaiting detailing and completion of the chassis. To say I'm a slow kit builder the Metro was started in 1980 so that's nearly 38 years in the build so far. I hope to finish it by 2030

In your first post you appear to have moved the equalizing pipe between the two pannier taks.

What did you replace it with?

The balance pipe between the tanks will be replaced when I make the dummy boiler. I have a new cast one from an old K's pannier tank kit.

I will post some pics when I get to that bit.
