5050
I know this film has been around for many years but I saw it for the first time over the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. However, as usual, some licence had been taken with the railway sequences with a J67 (or 69) arriving at 'Yeovil' with a train of LNER coaches. When Ian Carmichael is walking through the goods yard on his way to the 'school' there is a very peculiar vehicle facing the camera on one of the tracks he crosses - and I haven't a clue what it is. Anyone any idea?

Porcy Mane
Anyone any idea? Ha- ha ha. One of the funniest British Films. The late Mr. Carmichael once told me (whilst leaning against a level crossing gate waiting for a Q6 to pass) it was a favorite of his. Dunno wether you know or not but Mr Carmicheal is seen negotiating his way through the rolling stock towards Printars Distillation Works (ex Great Eastern Gasboard) here: https://goo.gl/maps/GiSCMeMqFzp I suspect you may be looking at some sort of crane. This example was photted about thirty yards to the north of the one shown above. In the film Mr Thomas was seen reversing his Bellini 3.5 (A rebodied Aston DB3/S with a sad tale of its own) into the wall in the confines of the gasworks just a few yards away from Printars Tank Wagon No. 1 seen below. P Edit: Going way off topic; just found this about the "Billini 3.5" https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23592/lot/244/ Just a tad over my price range. 5050
I also want to know the provenance of the other 'monstrosity' of a car. I knew the 'Bellini' was an AM DB3 but was the other a Vauxhall, Bentley??
Porcy Mane
THE SWIFTMOBILE by Pete Bromage, on Flickr Not the legendary Birkin Blower UR 6571 that I would regularly see on my way to Metalwork lessons when I was at school. (Airfix based there model on that one) It's now in the Ralph Lauren Collection. P
