Has anyone fitted a sound decoder to a Bachmann BR standard 3MT 2-6-2T and, if so, where did you mount the speaker?

There appears to be room in the front of the boiler for a small speaker. It also looks as though there is room in the cab/bunker subject to a bit of plastic surgery.

I'd be interested to know what others have done.

Thanks.

Thanks for that and apologies for not acknowledging your post sooner.

I took the body off mine the other day and there appears to be scope to increase the space under where the decoder sits.

I'll order a decoder with harness and a small sugar cube.

Thanks once again.

I managed to fit the Zimo MX648 decoder in the boiler with the YouChoos curved enclosure speaker atop the decoder after I had drilled a hole in the chimney to allow the sound to escape that way as well.

On reflection I could probably have fitted a more conventional speaker into the boiler as the curve part of the enclosure of the one I fitted, which I'd thought might fit against the inside of the boiler barrel (hence the curve), is on the relatively flat side of the decoder body.
