Ron Ron Ron
.... I agree with above comments that the old site should have been kept in place until the new one was properly up and running..... Pssssk Keep it to yourself. The old site is still available to view in its entirety. .
mikeharvey22
The 00 gauge part of the old site is still available to view updated to 1 January 2018. Just a pity it is not linked from the new site. http://grafar.co.uk/branchline.php

truffy
Pssssk Keep it to yourself. The old site is still available to view in its entirety. . Pssst, if it is, it's well hidden because my http://www.Bachmann.co.uk bookmark goes to a temporary, and rather boring page. And has done for a couple of weeks. locoholic
Bachmann don't sell direct through their website so it's not like it is when Argos/Amazon/Tesco goes south for a day. The only transactions of any form are via the Collectors' Club which is functioning perfectly - http://Bachmann-collectorsclub.co.uk/. Trade orders can still be made with Bachmann so, no, it isn't losing them money. Everything will be sorted in due course. If they're not losing money whilst their website isn't properly there, logically that means their website doesn't make them money, which leads me to wonder why they bother with it! Last thing it needs to be is a shopping orientated site which is where Hornbys and Dapols have shortcomings IMO.

cs233
It would not be common for such latency when introducing a new site, the old site would be fully updated so day to day functions and advertising are as before and only replaced when the new site is feature ready and fit for purpose. Don't Bachmann just have one IT person that does everything? Such as website development, system management, networking, security, servers etc, for a 10 million pound net worth business they likely need to increase the headcount in that area, only they know for sure. truffy
See the posts just above yours. You mean http://www.grafar.co.uk/? I did. Perhaps you have some cache, but when I visited that link it simply redirects to http://www.Bachmann.co.uk
No Decorum
More proof, if proof were needed, that Bachmann reads RMweb. Determined to inflict the misery of a bleak new website upon us, Bachmann has now cut us off from the old one.

locoholic
Its called advertising . And the purpose of advertising is to increase sales, and therefore make more money. So, as I suspect, Bachmann might well be losing money by not having a proper website. Hey ho...
RMweb Gold ian Posted February 1, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 1, 2018 If you are in need of a service sheet that was on the old web site then have a look on the Wayback Machine https://web.archive.org/ This direct link may (or may not) work - if not go to the main site, enter Bachmann.co.uk in the search box and work from there. Ed-farms
Whilst perusing the parts of the website that are available I came across this one http://service.Bachmann.co.uk/web-images/ its got all the images from the current catalogues in section and page order, click on the links and a folder opens with each item inside as a separate picture
scruff
Just been to see if the Bachmann website is available.. It seems we have now got to wait until "later in the year" and there is no mention of the railway side except the collectors club... Disappointedly yours Mark Edited February 15, 2018 by scruff
rob D2
Well, that’s a bit dense IMhO. The old website was very good, clear, good font, and a weekly look for updated deliveries etc. I sometimes feel IT improvements are just a job creation scheme. It seems we have now got to wait until "later in the year" and there is no mention of the railway side except the collectors club... Disappointedly yours Mark To be fair, later this year is merely an undefined point leading up till 31st December 2018. It could be available tomorrow for all we know. The Black Hat
To be fair, later this year is merely an undefined point leading up till 31st December 2018. It could be available tomorrow for all we know. To be fair, it says "later in the year" and doesn't say which year. It could be like the 158 and we might be waiting ages! **Sorry Bachmann couldn't resist... (I actually like the new layout, it looks much better and clearer. Just devoid of content, which I'm sure will be there soon).
RMweb Premium brushman47544 Posted February 16, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 16, 2018 If it is going to be some time (say months rather than weeks) before the new website is available, it would certainly be useful if some of the pages from the old website were made available again temporarily. Product details, retailers/stockists, and the DCC info in particular.
Butler Henderson
The news link does take you to an increasing number of articles so the temporary web site is not merely a cobweb
RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted February 16, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 16, 2018 If Bachmann's performance with locos is anything to go by we will have forgotten about them by the time the website is back to being any use. I'm about 2 days from finishing my 94xx conversion so that won't be on my Wish List any longer.
