tomstaf
Hi, Calling all LNWR specialists - I'm after a 7mm LNWR coach kit of a rather unusual model. I've had a search online but haven't come across anything along the lines of this particular carriage: I understand that it's based on LNWR dining car built in 1890. Anyone know of anything out there kit wise? I guess it's unlikely that there will be an exact kit, but anything similar with the same roof and side profiles would be great for me to hack around and turn into the model. Thanks Tom

RMweb Premium uax6 Posted January 11, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 11, 2018 No kitchen/diner in that range. Would be a good one for the silhouette cutter, the texture of the shell would come out really well. Andy G
coachmann
It is a 42ft Dining Car that was part of a twin in LNWR days. The original insignia for 'Dining Car' was rather florid and laid out in an arc. The roof is a Cove type with clerestory added. Bogies were originally 8ft lightweight type. Those in preservation are LNER Gresley heavy 8ft 6 ins type. The original rod & queenpost underframe trussing has been replaced in LMS days by angle trussing that is very similar to that on a 42ft GUV. In fact, I do wonder if the chassis is off a scrapped GUV. I don't know of any body etchings.
RMweb Premium uax6 Posted January 11, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 11, 2018 It was a grounded body for years (1921 to 1978), when restored to railway use it was put on scenery van 37908's underframe. The gresley bogies were added later.
