Lu4472ke
for my cakebox challenge entry, I thought I would also do something I could display my smaller locos on. so basically, its a piece of track, a buffer stop, a loco, and a hut. the first thing I did was paint the base black, it didn't need to be prefect as I plan to put some ground cover over it. I used some ordinary poster paint as I didn't have enough model paint to do that, it would have also used a lot. this is the loco I've used, a dead mainline J72. I have weathered it since the photo was taken, but don't have a picture of that. this is the piece of track and buffer stop I've used, both prayed with humbrol 29. The sleepers have been painted since the photo was taken. put it altogether and you get this. the hut in the background is a Hornby 4 wheel coach body with some paint and weathering powders on it. Lu4472ke
Apologies for the extended break form this topic, I've been working on a few other things which have been taking up my time. When you last saw it the piece of track was glued down and weathered. Earlier today, it got is first lot of ballast. the ballast I've used is a mixture of woodland scenic black and brown, I'm waiting for that to dry then I can do the rest tomorrow, and then I will be done. I do plan to get some tufts of grass to use as weeds, but that's not urgent as the closing date is November.
GeoffinOz
Luke, the closing date may be November or October but that is only 9 or 10 months away, one month already gone this year, time flies when you are having fun. Plenty of weeds and scrap around this side of the rails would be nice

Lu4472ke
After a long time, I decided I didnt like the ballast I used initially. So I've changed it to a mix of Chinchilla dust and black powder paint, I I used a 50/50 mix of PVA glue and water, and it cracked. So today (leaving it to the last minute as usual for me) I went and filled in those cracks, glued the hut down, made a sleeper pile (which will get some paint tomorrow) and painted some old rails. I used Humbrol 113 to paint the wheelsets and rails, tomorrow's job is to find a final place for them.
Lu4472ke
Well, I'm happry to say it is now finished. I've painted the sleeper pile with Railmatch frame dirt, and stuck it and the rails and wheelsets down with superglue. Here is some stock posing on Ashe yard.
