liamsantini
Hi. I have a class 128 and have installed a 21 pin dcc socket which will convert to take a 8 pin decoder. I have installed the 8 pin decoder and the loco works lovely. But only the headcode works in either direction. The cab lights do not come on...I have noticed on the 8 pin decoder there is a loose purple wire, would this be the reason?
RMweb Gold RFS Posted January 23, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 23, 2018 (edited) An 8-pin decoder will have a maximum of 3 functions on the 8-pins, with an optional 4th provided by the loose purple wire that you would need to hard-wire yourself. Sounds to me that the 128 needs a 21-pin decoder because it requires at least 4 functions for all the lighting to work. I would recommend you install a native 21-pin decoder, and save the 8-pin one for a model that does not need the extra functions. RAF96
Just solder the purple lead to the F2 pin on the adaptor.
