John_Miles
It's Ynysybwl with no "e" on the end. . As English people like to say, there are no vowels - which is obviously wrong if you think about it
Jeremy Davison
Hi John, Sorry for that, I've now amended the post to the correct spelling. That's the joy of copying from the website. I'll mention it to the webmaster to see if they can amend your layout name there also. Looking forward to seeing your layout. Cheers Jeremy

RMweb Gold Phatbob Posted January 29, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 29, 2018 Any modern image? Banbury is circa 2011. Modern enough for you?
Jeremy Davison
Any modern image? Hi Nick, As well as Banbury mentioned above, there is Troutons which is current era (I believe), and my layout Great Endon which is set around 2005 (or so!). Look forward to seeing you. Cheers Jeremy
fluff
Meg, Simon and I should be there with Eisengebrau - HO Prussian 1910. Come and have a chat.
Jeremy Davison
Less than a fortnight to go until the show!! :-) Cheers Jeremy
Allegheny1600
The Greek layout (Liualtia) sounds intriguing, any chance of more information on it, please? I shall see if my calendar is free as I do like Eisengebrau anyway. Cheers, John.
RMweb Gold roundhouse Posted February 13, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) Looking forward to our first long distance show of the year. Banbury is currently having fiddleyard modifications which will give us an extra track to fill. This will give more flexibility when running the FGW HST diversions that ran whilst various rebuilding blockades took place at Reading a few years ago. fluff
Sadly, I have to withdraw Eisengebrau. A combination of the severe weather predicted for the east coast and related work commitments (I drive gritters and snowploughs) mean that I have to work this weekend. Hope all goes well. Carl BR
Bad news people. The Preston show has been cancelled due to the impending weather that is going to hit the country this week. This may look like premature panicking but a number of our exhibits and traders will be coming from affected areas and we have already had two layouts say they won't risk coming. The club can only apologise to everyone who was planning to come along.

Well just think ..... you have lost a weekend playing trains but gained a weekend of overtime. So apart from paying the poxy tax man you will have some more money to buy extra toys. So apart from paying the poxy tax man you will have some more money to buy extra toys. If only it were all overtime. Weekends count simply as a normal shift. You're right, though, if we look on the bright side some more money can go on trains once I've fed the family and daughter's two horses!

John_Miles
A real shame. I hope the financial implications for the organisers are not too severe.. We ( the Ynysybwl crowd) were really looking forward to what is always a first class exhibition.

Jeremy Davison
Very disappointing for all involved, however given the distance and locations that traders and exhibitors were coming from, it made sense. Hopefully the financial side will not be too bad. Cheers Jeremy
rue_d_etropal
Its a shame, but this is the second time(in their new Spring time date), that they have had to cancel due to snow. First weekend of January was usually better weather. I presume like last time it is the college that is closed. It is cold, but snow is not as bad as it has been before, and not as bad as other parts of the country. Edited March 1, 2018 by rue_d_etropal
Nick G
It is cold, but snow is not as bad as it has been before, and not as bad as other parts of the country. Not as bad as other parts of the country? Where do all the exhibitors and traders come from, other parts of the country maybe?
RMweb Premium Legend Posted March 2, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 2, 2018 I think some people aren’t quite understanding the severity of snow in some locations, presumably because they don’t have any themselves , it does seem patchy. I’ve got about a foot of snow , there is still the occasional snow shower but the issue is the wind that’s causing drifting even in my own estate. No one has made it out so far this morning, because you can’t see where pavement/road ends and there is a slight hill which the cars just can’t cope with . Yes I’m just West of Glasgow but there’s lots of disruption Borders, Cumbria . Weren’t people stuck on the M62 at Rochdale? So it’s all around if not actually in Preston . RMweb Gold Oldddudders Posted March 2, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 2, 2018 Preston got it right. Putting pressure on exhibitors to venture out at present looks entirely wrong. The spread of tales on the snow thread makes it clear things are diabolical for many across the UK. And since a club only gets one chance per annum to make a few £, they will be losers too. Sad all round - but the right decision.
