luke the train spotter
Hi there I am planning my next oo gauge layout and looking out for some inspiration. I have a growing passion for industrial locos and a decreasing amount of space so an industrial micro layout sounds appealing. I would love to model a small standard gauge industrial shunting yard with a couple of points but not many. The space I have available is a scenic board no bigger than 4 foot by 2 foot (that's my maximum scenic size) and a small fiddleyard on the side. I would really appreciate any track plans, photos, prototype info etc. (I am open to all ideas) TIA. RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted February 1, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 1, 2018 A dockside scenario might appeal; sharp curves and a lot of heavy engineering with track inset into road surfaces.
Nearholmer
Try the Industrial Railway Society website, through which a massive archive of back-journals is accessible. The choices are very numerous indeed!

5050
My 'Enigma Engineering' is 4' x 15" and provides lots of 'fun'. It is built in P4 but it might work in OO with Peco small radius points. You'll find it with a 'Google'. Have a look on the 'Standard Gauge Industrial' section on here, plenty of inspiration. Signaller69
It might be worth considering what stock you want to run on the layout, eg a dockside could handle just about any type of wagon, a coal mine limits you mainly to various open/hopper wagons. Something like a brewery or distillery can have opens for barrels, grain wagons, vans for finished goods, coal for firing etc; similarly a cement works could have cement wagons/tanks, vans for bagged cement, coal for firing etc; there are many other ideas of course. The industrial railways section on this forum also has lots of inspirational ideas too. Martyn.
