Just saw these on Hattons.

No details of price or date that they are due to appear.

I was talking to my local model shop owner this week and was told all commissions by Peco for local traders are being paused so they can concentrate on their pipeline and catch up with their production backlog. Of particular interest was that the aim was for the L&B goods brake to be delivered by the end of 2020.

There is a news item in The Railway Modeller from Peco. These have not yet been manufactured, although they have been signed off for production and it is due to start soon. Apparently Peco are concentrating on replenishing stocks of their 'core products'  (N & OO track) that were depleted due to the pandemic and a switch to PPE manufacture.

That's in the August issue, the September issue is out now. Nothing in the news section, but there is an ad. with 'arriving shortly' in it. They will come with metal rim wheels, it claims.

Metal rims. I’ll be very interested to see how these perform. All of my plastic Peco wheels have been replaced with Bachmann N gauge all-metal ones. Even if the fit is a little tight on some models, the improvement is considerable. Metal rims still leave the axles and wheel centres prone to moulding irregularities, so I might have to continue replacing them. Good marks to Peco for effort, though.

Received my two. Very nice model, I'm very impressed with the opening doors, they are much thinner than others that have been produced to open and are held in place nice and firm. When shut, there is no discernible gap at either the handle end or the other end where it slides over the sides. The later close fitting is very impressive.

I recvd  2  today.  has  any user so far   noticed that  the  free running (rollability)  is  not  too good  and  also  a  strange  whistly   squeeky noise  ( almost like  flange  squeel) when running its continuous on both  curved & straight  sections of  track

Additional  Info  this evening.

I removed a bogie from on of the  Vans andfitted it to  a handy Peco L&B bogie open wagon  I got the  same  results  Squeeking wheels, fitted  the  open wagon's bogie to the bogie brake and that bogie  was silent  BUT the other metal rimmed wheel bogie  still squeejd

Propelled  the  removed metal rim wheeled bogie on its own on some  track  no sound at  all!

Its  a bit  of a mystery

The  L&B Vans  are  otherwise  very  nice

I found the same squeeking. I have cured mine by applying some lithium oil from a spray can, put on to the pin point axle ends, by paint brush. The problem seems to be the pin point axle rubbing in the locating box. It seems even the light weight of the van, is enough to put pressure on the axle box surface.

I found the same on all three of mine but by trimming the barely noticeable sprue attachment flash it solved the squeak and made them much better rolling.

It’s barely visible, this was by far the worst, but if you run a knife blade down the axle you’ll find it’s there. Slice it off and now . . .

I finally got to video one of these. I’m quite pleased with the model. Despite a few slight panel gaps, what does need to be commended is that they are made, printed and packed entirely in the UK I believe, proving that the UK can still make model rail rolling stock.

I also like the posable doors.
