Good idea to keep it open to a later date. It would be a through route from Sheffield/Tinsley/Attercliffe to Stairfoot and Cudworth so you can run almost anything.

In the Rails Through Barnsley picture in post #177, behind the finial, is our school playing field, so if I could see a loco in the sidings I would walk up instead of waiting for the bus. Then walk home through Barrow pit yard.

If you were into 4 wheel locos, and 4 wheel wagons you’d get a colliery-type or dockside roundy-roundy in that space.

 

But anything else will eat it very quickly as you say!

 

If you bend your plan into a broad but shallow U could you get the scenic bit in the middle and a fiddle yard at either end? I guess it depends where the door is.

Heres for sale a plate layers hut I’ve scratch built as a one off

Based on what I think is called “masons hut “ on settle Carlisle line

The hut is hand carved (apart from chimney) out of foamex finished in a dilapidated state

Removable roof

And door so it can be in the open or shut position

Price £50 including postage

I’ll be scratch building a few more huts in the future

All will be different one off’s

Finally made a start on trackbuilding on Dovecliffe

First time I’ve stained sleepers so thought I’d try jackobean dark oak

They’ve come out well ,now just got to take them upto loft and stick them down tomorrow
