Meter rat
Hello, I’m building a small box file layout, based on the just supposing that a line was built to Lochinver. I know this is not a new idea, and has been done before, but this is a bit of relief, due to a ski injury, and something to take in the caravan. The period is 1969-1972, green diesel to early blue. What classes of locomotives, other than class 26, would possibly be based out of Inverness and go up the Far North, around this period and henceforth to Lochinver? My thoughts are class 26, 24, and class 20, but would these be a single engine or the more usual nose to nose? Any help, ideas, or thoughts would be helpful. RMweb Gold stovepipe Posted February 24, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 24, 2018 There weren't any class 20s at Inverness in this period, they more worked up the WHL. There were visitors to Muir of Ord on the grain services from Doncaster which was a class 40 for many years. Passenger services were class 24 and 26. Not sure when the aluminium smelter was built at Invergordon, but that generated some traffic.
