EddieB
Are they still in use? Crying out for a railtour there! Most definitely. There are regular tours of the site organised by the Appleby Frodingham Railway Preservation Society, details on their website. http://www.afrps.co.uk It’s a bit of pot luck where on site the Di8s might be found working, and whether they are in good positions for photographs during these tours. (There used to be restrictions on photography during the Tata period, but these now seem to have been relaxed).
E3109
Nobody's mentioned the Electroputere Grids yet. Incidentally, the latest grinds on the rumour mill suggest that certain Grids are about to become 'more foreign', that rumour being GB are about to acquire the 56s currently stood down at Leicester, the best ones will retain their Ruston/EE lumps, and the basket cases will be refitted with secondhand GM units. Please be aware that this is purely messroom chit chat, and may not bear any similarities to reality. (Hope it's true though!)
