Hi all - quick question/confirmation

Could any one confirm that both the Class 15 and 17 gear towers and bogie side frames are the same? They look identical other than perhaps the bogie mounting to the chassis/footplate casting.

Cheers,

J

Interesting question, you thinking of replacing Clayton components with Class 15 components, to improve running? I only have one of three which runs well, the others are just passable.

A case of the model having considerable fidelity with the prototype then... :butcher:

Too right sport, yes I spent some time replacing faulty units and one did smoke some! I'm reliably informed that there is nothing wrong with the model per se! I even swapped one with a seller for a Class 33 (well, that was faulty as well.) :banghead:

Thanks for the reply guys. I was actually thinking of using spare replacement C.17 towers (from Howes) to remotor a Alexander Models C.15. Main reason for question is I can only get C.17 spare towers and bogie side frames.

I hadn’t thought of re-bogeying a C.17 with C.15 towers, good idea though.

I have found that when striping some non runners (C.16 especially) that the axles that hold all the idler gears snap off and then ‘float’ around the gear casing - which might be some of the problems that people have with poor running.
