Hi Everyone.

Well now Diddy Yard is nearly complete I scrounged about and found some MDF off cuts.

It's not good to have foamboard, mdf etc lying about when I'm about according to my wife, anyway I thought what can I build on this.

I have thought about building something for my small GWR 0-4-0 loco I received from my wife a while ago so a tiny GWR based micro layout it is.

The layout is 14 inches long and 8 inches wide and has a halt station capable of hold a small 4 wheeled coach and another siding which can hold two wagons.

It's also a chance to use up some bits of track, building's etc I have lying about.

Here is a photo:

Thanks for your kind replies Luke and Kevin.

The halt is a Wills kit and I just omitted the right hand ramp so it would fit, it's 13.5cm long platform bit and 22.5cm long altogether ( ramp to ramp ).

Mine with the ramp omitted is 18cm long altogether.

My little layout is not modelled on anywhere but I do like these little halts.

I have just been playing, I mean testing the layout and it runs great, I'm going to use a fiddle stick fiddle yard on the left-hand end.

Hi Everyone.

I have done a bit more to the layout today, made a low relief tunnel and started the backscene, I also made a little hut that came free with a magazine which needs touching up a bit to make it look a bit better.

I'm going to make a small embankment next to tunnel and complete the backscene.

More soon.

I have done a bit more work on the layout, added the backscene, finished of the bridge and added hedges/bushes at the back of the platform.

Jerry.

I like the wall post box, smashing little detail.

Have you considered moving the wall "in" to provide space for a postman's van, bike etc?

Hi Everyone.

I have done some work on the layout today and yesterday, here are a couple of photos:

Overall view showing start of ballasting, wall moved back a bit, the white van will be replaced with a post ban and some detailing on the halt station.

Thanks for your replies guys,

I may make it a through station at a later date but for now its a terminus.

I'm going to do some more work soon, add a home signal, finish ballasting etc.

More soon.

There are examples of this, where either due to closure or planed extensions not being built you ended up with a very modest terminal. The Colonel Stevens East Kent Light Railway Wingham Canterbury Road Station being a case in point.

I like this layout. It's very evocative of the light railway - I can just imagine some tiny antiquated tank engine playing with a few trucks while the one passenger awaits his train.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how terminal halts such as these would have operated in terms of running the loco round?
