Tom F
Does anyone produce this as a kit in 4mm? Post war builds I believe and surprisingly common on ex NE lines. Edited March 17, 2018 by 9793
Steamport Southport
I think the closest you can get is the earlier version originally built by the NER/LNER. Unless there is an etched kit or 3D print that I don't know about. Still available in O gauge with the 4MM version possibly due for a re-release by Slaters. https://www.slatersplastikard.com/linePage.php?code=7042 Avoid using Coopercraft for obvious reasons. Tom F
My friend Alan Jones of Coastline Models is looking into it as we speak. Alan’s had good success on having whole wagons printed (chassis and all). https://coastlinemodels.co.uk/index.php?id_category=2&controller=category Edited March 18, 2018 by 9793

Post war builds I believe and surprisingly common on ex NE lines. 3BE013DA-CA94-47EC-BCE0-6CF3E19DD92B.jpeg Hi Tom, Pretty sure no one does a kit. I scratch built a couple a few years back, see here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/2050-on-tim-ls-p4-workbench-more-wagons/page-1&do=findComment&comment=31401 I got some hopper door castings from David Geen, the rest is basswood, plasticard, Ambis levers, Masokits W-irons etc. The buffers are wrong, but nobody does (to my knowledge) the correct ones ready sprung (and they're tricky to make): I had a go at modifying some loco ones, but they're still too long. I will correct it 'sometime'. Cheers for now.
Tom F
Very effective Tim! Nice work! Not quite ready for scratch building yet, Alan’s started work on the drawings for the 3D. I’m surprised nobody has done a kit. They are in most of my photos in the coal yards on the Wensleydale Branch. Edited March 19, 2018 by 9793

Look at. http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brhopper13 These show the BR built ones. There was also a drawing in one of the magazines in the 1970,s! gr.king
If you wanted several Tom, and could come up with one good scratch built or 3d printed body, that would be a nice easy thing for you to try as a first exercise in inexpensive multiplication by DIY resin casting.... Metal parts for the under-gubbins ought to be available from one source or another, with a little applied thought and adaptation.

Mark Saunders
This is the current appearance. I would have expected the interior planking forming the hopper slope at the end would be longitudinal to aid discharge? Mark Saunders
Quarryscapes
Going off the 20 Ton hoppers and the BR builds the planks are laid as shown. Certainly other designs of Hoppers did have the planks as you suggest. I'd have thought a sheet steel covering would have been more appropriate myself. The only hoppers I know that had sheet steel on the interiors were the SRW 25 ton ones at Ashington Colliery for Stone to prevent damage to the planks! Quarryscapes
Some pics of the "underframe" for want of a better term, based on MJT W Iron sets. These will need to be trimmed as shown in order to clear the hopper base.
