RMweb Gold The Stationmaster Posted March 25, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 25, 2018 Two new volumes from Lightmoor on sale at Ally Pally show yesterday. As promised the latest volume, No.7, in the 'British Railways First 25 Years' series is out covering 'London' Western Region - extending out to Langley (inclusive) and, of course, including the West London Line. Loads of superb and interesting pics - many I've never seen before both steam and early diesel days, worth it for the loco pics alone but the infrastructure is also represented. My only complaint - and it is rather churlish to mention it - is that Paddington Goods, Crimea Yard, and West London are not included but they were all difficult to legitimately access so their omission isn't really surprising. The other volume is 'The Golden age of London's Railways from Old Postcards' - but don't be misled by the use of the word 'postcard' as there are quite a number of superb plate camera images which just happened to be sold as postcards. Basically Pre-Grouping and including the underground lines (mainly surface views and advertising maps) it is a wonderful presentation of the Pre-Grouping scene and its infrastructure plus the way streets looked in those days.
