Bachmann "E4" 35-076A

I'm developing an unhealthy interest in a Bachmann E4 in Southern green, but I know nothing about the model. Can it be expected to run smoothly and quietly at low speeds on DC? FWIW my benchmarks for that are Hornby's J15 and Hatton's P4.

My two (one LBSC umber, one BR lined black) are on DCC but were tested and run-in on DC first. As everyone else has said so far, they run beautifully ... on both DC prior to chipping, and on DCC.

If expense is a problem (it is for most of us) Hatton’s has a second-hand version of the previous model for £70. It’s the same apart from the number. There is also a brand new version in rather gorgeous LBSC lined umber for £80. There are also new BR versions for £80. Of course, you may not be interested in LBSC or prefer a brand new Southern item. Search for 35-07 to see the selection.

I have the pair of SR Green ones and am patiently waiting for an SR Black one, I could paint one myself but I'm in no rush, they both run smoothly as anything, quite strong too, sometimes that cab wheel falls off the rails on tighter bits of pointwork but otherwise all okay =) I needn't have pre ordered the 2nd green one as they appear quite regularly under £90, but never mind =)
