RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted April 9, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 9, 2018 Modelbahn Union have issued a second ferry van....this time losing a bit in translation a “ferry boat cooling wagon”.....a refrigerated van but just post WW2 as its epoch III. https://www.en.dm-toys.de/produktdetails/items/MU_N-G56003.html They have previously issued a more modern DB ventilated ferry van which sold out very quickly...so much so I didn’t manage to get one....hopefully there will be a second issue. https://www.en.dm-toys.de/produktdetails/items/MU_N-G66001.html Although to 1/160 this might be a bit of a trend starting. The insulated van looks like a type that was certainly around into the early 1970s- certainly, similar vehicles from other European railway administrations were. David Larkin's 'Non-Pool Freight Stock, 1948-1968, Volume 1' has a photo of a German-registered one, taken at Dover in 1961 on page 78. On the preceding page is a similar French vehicle, built in 1936, and photographed at Hoo in 1969
jonhall
I'm away from my books at the moment but from a scan in my inbox i think these are 1935 to about 1968, its not obvious if they ever carried a UIC number. Jon

RMweb Gold McRuss Posted April 11, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 11, 2018 Hello Paul, a member of the german Spassbahner Forum offers a 1/148 3D printed kit for the ferry van you mentioned. https://www.shapeways.com/product/77PB6CL8T/2351-1-148-german-train-ferry-van-e277?optionId=18481469 He also offers three other ferry wagons in british N scale Markus
RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted April 11, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 11, 2018 I have seen these before. They look very good but with all the extras required expensive as none of the bits are available in the UK, which is a shame. There aren’t any 2 axle ferry vehicles in OO except the former Triang BR Ferry van. We might be waiting a long time for anything in 1/148.

RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted April 11, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 11, 2018 (edited) These are very nice, what did you use for chassis....extended Peco one? These are my scratchbuilt ones, Fleischmann chassis scatchbuilt body and using etched vents from Etched pixels / Ultima. RMweb Premium PaulCheffus Posted April 11, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 11, 2018 These are very nice, what did you use for chassis....extended Peco one? Hi Those look very good and I used the same Etched Pixels etch for mine. I have another four to build when I get the enthusiasm back along with one diagram E423 van. The chassis is scratchbuilt using 2mm SA W Irons Cheers Paul

hmrspaul
Good news! According to the DM Toys stand at TINGS this weekend, there will be another batch of the TCEFS 845 Ferry Wagon coming later this year - expected November. Excellent news for anyone modelling cross channel traffic. Hope to pick up a few for a Speedlink working. Cheers, Paul I dont model N so wasn't aware of them. Look very nice. This is the prototype https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/germanvan/e31b0a90e - several other photos available. Paul
