Sh0rtr0und9
I was looking around the railway room the other day for some old bits to use for my cakebox diorama, and came accross an old LMS milk wagon that I'd bought a few years back, for no other reason than it was cheap. Upon taking it out the box, one of the wheelsets fell out, giving me the idea of using this wagon in some sort of 'accident' scene. With a bit of playing around, I manaed to get the wagon positioned (using the broken wheel as a support) as if it was in the process of derailing itself on a set of points, and then mounted those points on a small baseboard made from a rectangle from a cardboard box, with a piece of foamboard on top. This is as far as I've got so far, if anyone has any suggestions for things to add, they would be more than welcome. RMweb Premium iands Posted April 14, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2018 Thanks for the prompt "sh0rtr0und9". I've recently been looking through a number of photos from work and came across a few from a derailment in the Beckingham area back in 2000 and was wondering what would be the best thread to post them on. Your post decided it for me. Perhaps this selection will give yourself and others a bit of inspiration to build a Cake Box challenge/Diorama model of a derailment scene. Hope they provide some interest. Regards, Ian.

I've been doing some research into what undercarriage damage usually occurs in these situations, and as many of the photographs of wagons similar to mine are old and grainy, these have provided a clear and useful hint to what I need to cut out/warp. However, I'm sure the recovery method for my wagon would have been slightly different back in LMS days!
