Bemo coach lengths

Hi,

Bemo bogie coaches seem to come in a variety of lengths e.g. - 171.5mm, 195mm, 211.7mm, 212mm. Are these all prototypical lengths for the different batches of RhB coaches? I am concerned about the 171.5mm coaches that appeal to me as I can use these to get more of coaches in a restricted length of train. I know that some European manufacturers deliberately produced shortened HO carriage models in the 1960's, 70's so as to look better on tight trainset radius curves and then made a point of proclaiming that their subsequent newer HO models were scale length.

Regards,

John.

Yes, the RhB have different length coaches, due to upgrades on the network longer bodies could be used later on. The shortest are still on the Bernina line, the slightly longer ones are usually transit-traffic with the FO/BVZ/MGB although the latter also have upgraded a lot of small radius curves to a more generous version to allow longer coaches to be used. The longest are usually for Express train services (Chur-St. Moritz) and commuter traffic (S-Bahn style network) but transit traffic is now also possible. Publisher Schweers&Wall had a 5-part series you'd might be interested in obtaining (series consist of 4x RhB+FO stock book), but text is in German.

Thanks for putting my mind at rest on this matter.

Regards,

John
