I have a Bemo v51 (many years old) that packed up last night and I have confirmed it is the motor. I have taken the motor onto the bench and even with 12v DC connected directly to it there is no movement :(

I think it may be the same as the Liliput 0-6-2 motor but with the motor shaft extended out of both ends.

Can anyone identify this and suggest where I can get a replacement? Bemo are notoriously slow (difficult) to get spares from and they are horrendously expensive when you can get them - I will however go there if I have no choice.

Hoping that someone has an idea :)

well, working on the principle that the motor is goosed I took it apart and found that one of the brushes was worn out to the point of not being there any more - but the other is 6mm long! I am now in the fortunate position of possibly being able to repair the original motor, I made a brush from a 8B pencil that I stole from my daughter and it runs, but not brilliantly and I expect that Dave's motor will run much sweeter - however if the worst happens and I cant make Dave's fit and I can get some brushers from somewhere then a favourite powerhouse will be working again :)

Thanks for the help and suggestions - days hasn't been so bad after all.

Plus I got the automation working 100% today 4 hours running with all locos stopping and starting automatically and moving around - very relaxing (though I did have several cups of tea watching it all work without any intervention!

Dave - a lovely little motor but I wonder if it is missing brushes? It seems to me that the springs are running on the commutator and as they are much harder than the copper they will cut a line into it very quickly.

I think you said you had another, can you take a look before I ruin this by running it?

Its a generic Mabuchi type motor which was available cheaply for years, the only distinguishing feature is that its double shafted. Try ebay?

I've just had a quick look a the other one and it is just a wire wiper against the commutator, no brushes.  I'm guessing they're 'expendable'

See how it works,  and if it's ok I'll pop the other one in the post to you as a spare.
