Squealing Hornby Ringfield 2 axle motor bogies.

I have a couple of the above which squeal and screech especially on corners and at speed.

 

Is this just a matter of lubrication and, if so where should I oil them?

 

(I'm a bit of a novice and don't want to make a horrible mess of them!)

A tiny drop of oil on both ends of the armature shaft (particularly down behind the small gear wheel). Be careful not to get any on the commutator or brushes. And DON'T use 3-in-1 oil, or WD40.

Stewart’s advice is spot on. Ringfield do squeal if the armature shaft is dry. The usual advice on oil is to use a mineral oil, such as Singer sewing machine oil. I personally have a Gaugemaster oil pen. One of them should last for years, even with a large fleet of locos.

Any decent hardware store should have something suitable or hobby craft shop

You can buy the Gaugemaster oil pens on Amazon. Just search on Amazon for Gaugemaster lubricator. There is one for £4.75 that I just saw.
