pmorgan_cym
Is it time to perhaps elevate Hatton across to the manufacturers forum? They seem to have more up and coming releases than some of the manufacturers over there?
GreenGiraffe22
Plus they're dealing directly with the factory that makes their products rather than commissioning a third party
RMweb Gold Roy Langridge Posted May 10, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 10, 2018 I was giving thought to this the other day. Personally I think the forum is getting a bit muddled and could benefit from a rethink in structure. Hattons commission and manufacture, should they have a presence in both topics? After all, Hattons appear in the Model Shop topic as well for that discussion. RevolutioN seem to commission from the likes of Rapido and there offerings get muddled between the two, both of which are in the manufactures topic. This makes finding what you want much harder now. None of this is meant as criticism of the mods - I think the original structure didn't, for obvious reasons, foresee the changes to the hobby that have been seen. KDG
Is it time to perhaps elevate Hatton across to the manufacturers forum? I know this is purely personal but since their recent announcement Hattons' products have more relevance to me than Heljan or Hornby for that matter now. This makes finding what you want much harder now. The only muddling comes from products that were announced prior to Revolution getting their own section so with time that will sort itself out. The significant division I would suggest is now between products with general distribution to retailers, and those which are only available from specific retail outlets. That's what a potential purchaser needs to know. It would have to be recognised that a given base model might be found in both sections. Bachmann's production of the C1 atlantic for the NRM: originated as an exclusive only available from the NRM's retail outlet, and is now announced be available as a general release from Bachmann. Likewise where a general release has also been produced in a specific version or livery for one or more retailers, numerous examples there.
Andy Y
I am considering whether a move as a whole is appropriate or whether it should be split but I consider the likelihood is that future announcements will be direct with a factory so a whole move may be the best. I will, however, talk to Hatton's on their thoughts. The same applies to Kernow too.
