A4 reserved Sir Nigel Gresley

Am I the only one that would like to see Sir Nigel Gresley in its other preserved livery?  When I visited the NYMR for the steam gala in 2012 she had the early crest on.  I would think you could take the Early crest Mallard and use that, and it even has the plaque needed on it.  Though, I think SNG in its previous preserved form had a darker shade of blue, though I could be wrong.  Just my druthers, but this is why I have yet to buy one.  Just really want the livery I saw her in.

In answer to your point, you may not be the only one but from the models which are sold off cheap it looks often to be the BR blue versions which don't sell as well.

For those growing up after the end of the steam ban when apart from No 9 nearly everything on the mainline was was in Big Four livery the current obsession with dull BR liveries cannot end soon enough. However, each to their own.

An early BR blue SNG is not quite the same as the other 2 early BR blue liveries used on 8P locomotives.  The loco seems to have been a bit if a star, receiving special treatment, and retained the red painted wheel spokes and centres of the LNER Garter Blue livery, and underwent testing at the new Rugby Testing Station in this livery, where it performed very well indeed.  The loco had 'BRITISH RAILWAYS' lettering on the tender in the standard BR sans serif style, which suited an ex LNER design; I believe the tender underframe was red as well.  There was no lining.

With the exception of a Trix offering many years ago, I don't think this particular livery has ever been offered in any A4 RTR model.  It would not be hard to do as home repaint project once you got the correct shade of blue; there is no lining to worry about and transfers (you call them decals in the US) are available from the HMRS sheets, though you may have to source these in the UK as I do not know what their availability is over there.

As already suggested why not re-paint a model yourself in to the livery you want?

And it'll be a sure-fired certainty that just as you finish it a manufacturer will announce or release a batch in that same livery.

Just found the following video of SNG at the Rugby Testing station. Although I would have loved to see this I am not sure I would have wanted to be as close as those engineers when it was going full tilt.

It was there from the 16-19 October 1948 but was being used for a demo, not actually under test!

One of only 27 locos to run on that hugely expensive bit of kit

There were 8P locos from the SR, LMS & LNER but nothing at all from the Western.

a word of Caution

in the Preservation era 60007 has carried LNER Garter blue (red wheels , no valences with both countershaded transfer numerals and chrome numerals and letters ) In more recent times she has carried British Railways Blue livery with early crest as 60163 and 6023 have also carried and still does in 6023's case

60007 also carried in its working life the hybrid livery of LNER garter blue , red wheels but with 60007 on the cabside and British Railways on the tender as seen in this image on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRE-158-A4-60007-SIR-NIGEL-GRESLEY-in-Garter-Blue-red-wheels-lettered/302641620870?hash=item4676d8a786:g:oREAAOSw3xJVZq64

This along with the BR Green variants have not so far been carried in preservation

I opted for the 1990's version and had Mercig Studios do the respray and detailing for me.

Its a beautiful model depicted Sir Nigel Gresley in a run down preservation state

That turned out quite lovely!  I am not well versed enough that I trust myself to spray and renumber, etc.  I guess a third party is always and option.
