sharris
Just perusing the Nene Valley site, I saw the Swedish Y7 railcar No.1212, and noticed it had a passing resemblance, (although, only one carriage rather than three) to the LMS experimental DMU set 80000-80002 of 1939. I wonder if the Swedes took any inspiration in the design from the LMS?
doctor quinn
I suspect it's a case of parallel development, the article I have in Lok & Vagnar 3 namechecks a Nohab railcar built for the HNJ in 1939 http://www.historiskt.nu/rullande/ralsbussar/ralsbussen_stal.html Nick
RMweb Premium Patrick SPF Posted May 11, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 11, 2018 The Swedish Y6 type were in design inspired by the HNJ NOHAB railbusses, which were an answer by NOHAB to the popular Hilding Carlsson railbusses of the 1930's. Both Hilding Carlsson and Marstaverken produced similar steel rail busses in the late 1940's however the Y6 class are a SJ design and were built by a number of builders.
