TEAMYAKIMA
Hi Many many years ago I was given some jumper plugs/sockets like these ................ They are extremely high quality and lock in position but I've now used them all. I guess these are no longer made but would like to buy some s/h ones or something similar. I am looking to join approx 6 - 12 cables into sockets on the side panels of my portable layout rather than underneath. Now that maplins have closed I don't know where I would start to source such things. Any thoughts please?

RAF96
Picture of the pins/socket side? Is there a name or part number for clues to search internet direct. Try ... Farnell, Rapid Online, RS Components or Ali-baba/express if you have the time to trawl their thousands of supplier hits.
lesmond
As mentioned above, these look awfully like the XLR type of plug / socket. If so they are easily and readily available in all manner of combinations from 3 - 7 pin, both male and female both ways round. Lots of information here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XLR_connector I use them extensively - power to baseboard, controller to baseboard, inter board joints etc and find them a lot more robust than the DIN type. Could you please take it apart and photograph the ends of both plug and socket? Les

cpman46
These are standard 5 way XLR connectors. I use these myself and have bought them mostly from CPC ( a division of Farnell). Postage is free providing the order is worth more than £8 before VAT. Free delivery is usually 3 to 5 days although sometimes quicker. I'm totally bemused by the selection and the range of prices - obviously I want the cheapest possible. They don't have to fit my existing sockets although that would be convenient. I'm thinking AV15043 and AV14502 - any comments? http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/psg01585/socket-xlr-chassis-5p/dp/AV15043?ost=AV15043&scope=partnumberlookahead&exaMfpn=true&searchref=searchlookahead&ddkey=http%3Aen-CPC%2FCPC_United_Kingdom%2Fw%2Fsearch http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/psg01334/xlr-socket-5pin-black/dp/AV14502?ost=av+14502&autoc=av14502&ddkey=http%3Aen-CPC%2FCPC_United_Kingdom%2Fsearch Edited May 29, 2018 by TEAMYAKIMA

If you want mating pairs then I would go for the 5 Pole Cable Plug CPC No: AV14487 and the 5 Pole Chassis Socket CPC No: AV15043. Note that the cable plugs are also available with Red, Blue, Green & Yellow cable strain reliefs. Regards Mike
