MGR Hooper!
Hi, I'm on the lookout for some 5.5mm dia sprung buffers for an HO scale project. Does anyone know if there's a suitable HO/OO scale set of sprung buffers that I can use? TIA
RMweb Gold Dunsignalling Posted May 18, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 18, 2018 (edited) That scales to 16.5" in 4mm, so the nearest thing will be a scale 16". Heads this size are available separately from Dart Castings/MJT and Wizard Models/51L or Lanarkshire Models, amongst others. The shanks are generally interchangeable with the same maker's bases, but note that there may be two diameters to choose from. Most sprung buffers come with the more common 13" heads, so you may need to buy a set whose bases and shank diameter most closely match your chosen prototype and swap the heads for the larger size. Guy Rixon
What style of buffer guides do you need? I might be able to sort you out some prints.

John Thanks, I'll go have a look at those! Quite a few choices. What style of buffer guides do you need? I might be able to sort you out some prints. 3D printed sprung buffers??? Guy Rixon
See the link in my signature for existing printed buffers and some prices. Also the link to Coastline Models in Quarryscape's signature for his range. Also Mike Trice's shop on Shapeways and Bill Bedford's. Possibly some others. More directly, if the buffer guide you want matches a model I sell in 4mm scale, I will* rescale it to H0 for you. If I don't have that design but you have detailed measurements plus photographs and/or drawings, then I'll consider drawing it up and putting it in the shop. * NB: some of my CADs are right on the edge of printability in 4mm scale, so may not scale down to H0 so well. But I would be happy to try.
MGR Hooper!
I already do design work, just thought it would be better to have sprung buffers instead of fully printed ones. I've found suitable ones online. As much as I love Shapeways and as much as I use them to sell my work I cannot justify their shipping prices and then the crazy cost of customs as well.
