Ruston
I'm sure someone mentioned to me that there is to be an O gauge exhibition, in Doncaster, some time in June. Have I been dreaming, or is it fact? It's just that there's no mention of it in the exhibitions section of rmweb, nor is there anything in the latest Railway Modeller...

Guius
Doncaster (Dome) Show is a cracking good O Gauge day out - I would thoroughly recommend it to any one interested in any aspect of this particular field of model railways. Plenty of traders who are prepared to separate you from your 'hard earned' in many diverse and tantalizing ways, from tools and materials to RTR locos. Good parking and frequent buses to and from Doncaster Station make for relatively pain free travel. Guy

Marshall5
I hope John doesn't mind me answering for him but I'm pretty sure it's a San Cheng/Tower Models Pug. The giveaway is the incorrect smokebox door which is fully 'domed' (like the old Airfix 00 Pug) rather than having a reverse curve making it flat at the edges if you see what I mean. The Tower 1360 pannier had the same fault. I'm still trying to pluck up the courage to remove the door on mine and replace it with a correctly shaped one from Springside. Apart from that it is a good representation of the loco. Ray.

It is fitted with a Zimo 645 sound decoder and runs like magic. John Edited May 24, 2018 by John K

Marshall5
Thanks David and Ray, Sorry to hijack this strand with questions but does anyone have experience with the Slaters and Springside version of the Pug? Tim The Slater's one is an ex.Caledonian 'Pug' not a Lancashire and Yorkshire one. I haven't built the Slater's pug but I did build the Sevenscale (ex Chuffers now Springside) one. It was an excellent, even groundbreaking, kit in its day and can still hold its own among newer whitemetal kits. It built up well but I'm not a great fan of whitemetal so moved it on and bought a San Cheng/Tower brass one from the Guild Sales & Wants. I suppose it comes down to whether you prefer an etched brass or whitemetal kit or a RTR brass one. Cheers, Ray.
