Looking for 3D printed HO scale very small brick built buildings

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm looking for a level crossing keeper's brick built 'hut' and I'm happy to modify something so any small brick built building might do as a basis. I've looked at Shapeways sight but my search produced 35,000 possibilities (99.9% of which weren't anywhere close).

And so, I'm asking if anyone has any suggestions ..............

This is the kind of thing I'm looking for ............

Thanks

Here's a little stone coal office in 00 gauge that I made from a card kit. The kit can be downloaded for free from www.scalescenes.com. You might be able to modify it to what you need.

It can be downloaded in brick rather than stone and then that might well be a basis to work with - thanks.

For the minute though I would still like to look at 3D printed alternatives.

You will be asking the printer to do all the things it’s less good at, namely small individual surface detail (bricks/windows) and thin, hollow structures with apertures in (walls.) At the end you will have an inferior result compared to “traditional” methods.

As several people have now commented card is a very good medium for this type of building and base material could even be free from packaging, combine with either a printed skin or even a single sheet of brick paper and your hut could be done in an hour for under £1.

Plasticard with brick sheet overlay would also work if you want a more robust job, again materials bill will likely be less than £5.

If for any reason self assembly is impossible for you I am sure someone on here would put the scale scenes hut together for you, it’s a very quick build.

I have all the required parts in my stash, I could build the hut in your photo and post it to you (uk only) for £5.

Thanks to all who posted on this thread. I am no scratchbuilder, but I love a kitbash. So, I looked through my 'spares box' and found some bits left over from a previous project...

And have started knitting them together  ..... very much a work in progress!

It sits better in the former photo for me. Would depend where that road between the tracks goes though. If you were the crossing keeper where would you like your accommodation to be?
