Loco growls in one direction

Hi

 

I have a Bachmann 1F with with a Lenz Silver mini, it runs sweet in reverse but growls in the forward direction.  The noise becomes more evident as you increase the throttle from speed step 1.  Control is a NCE Powercab.

 

Any ideas?

I should have added, the loco is new and has been run in on DC where the noise wasn't apparent.

Do a temporary test with a different decoder on the mechanism. If there's no noise evident then return the decoder to A+H for replacement. (Exercise that warranty!)

I do have a like for like I could swap it with to try....

I have swapped the decoder with another model with the same decoder and it didn't make any difference.

The motor is free to swing side to side and it was drumming on the body interior.  It could be felt through the tanks when running.  I packed a small amount of Blu-Tack beneath and either side of the motor and it has transformed the model !!  No more growling.
