RMweb Premium MJI Posted June 10, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 10, 2018 While working out the sets I need to model I realised that every Bachmann Mark 1 I have are fitted with the older style brake cylinders inboard of the V hangers. AFAIK all Commonwealth bogied stock the cylinders are nearer the bogies. Do Bachmann have the correct parts or do I need to get the plastic strip out on what are quite expensive models? drgj
I spent some time changing an air braked Mk2 coach to vacuum. It really isn't worth the bother. Dave Edited June 25, 2018 by drgj

Easier to swap the bogies and renumber? If this detail vexes you then how about the much more visible absence of aluminium window frames on later Mk1s? Afraid to say one model cannot span the 60 odd years Mk1s have been around for. Phil

G-BOAF
Anyone able to link to pictures to illustrate the differences? I had always assumed that moving from BR1 to Commonwealth was a straightforward swap. The Bluebell has eliminated BR1 bogies from its Mk1 fleet in recent years and I don't recall any description of changes to Vac cylinder arrangements. Where is Vac cylinder on B4 bogie-fitted coaches? Mk1 brake gear can be either under pull or top pull, the types of bogie are modified to suit. The over pull type usually has the asymmetric style of vee hanger.
