Found this article of one Dennis Allenden models in 7mm.

Railway Modeller 1958 June Pages 128 - 131  Part 1

Sorry I don't know much about French railways, but thought I'd post this here for those that might be interested.

Dennis Allenden’s models and articles were always rather special. Unfortunately access to RM from 1958 may not be easily achieved. Could it be scanned and uploaded?

Incidentally isn’t the number given the renumbering applied by l’Etat to Ouest 2247 (Batignolles1224/1891)?

Hope this works, please advise if no good & I'll scan again.

Thanks for that. Articles and models based on the Ouest, and later Etat, are still quite rare, even in France!

Just as a footnote. According to various sources 20 of these 25 locos built in 1891-1892 became SNCF region 3 class 3-030D. Thirteen of them survived WW2 and five were still in service in 1958. So far as I can discover, the last of the class, 030D885, was withdrawn at St. Brieuc in 1963.

I have found one reference to 030D863 (030-863) being shedded at Motteville in 1935. That became a sub-shed of Sotteville (nr. Rouen) in 1948 where a single 030D, possibly 863, was around in the mid 1950s but had gone by 1957.

I haven't found a photo of 030-863 itsefl but the first of these (CC courtesy of Argentan Web Ferroviaire)  is 2248 so the next in the series.

I don't know whether the larger Westinghouse pump in Dennis Allenden's model- presumably measured up from the real 030D-863 as he found it-  was fitted by the Etat or was a later mod. There is a good (but copyright) photo in a Vie du Rail book of 030D865 in its final state with a similar pump but set further back level with the front of the first splasher.
