BernardTPM
I was planning something similar for my yellow PB too, only the slightly earlier Post Office Telecommunications.
grahame
I was planning something similar for my yellow PB too, only the slightly earlier Post Office Telecommunications. The old 'man up a pole' and 'sweeney surveillance tent' in that pic. When was the last time you saw either of those two things in the street? Steadfast
Really nice models in the opening post Andy, I've been following the layout thread and been impressed with your cut and shuts. Definitely sums up the era modelled well! So often we see N layouts where the trains are modelled well but very little thought given to setting the scene with appropriate Road vehicles. It's difficult to put a pic from the thread here since I'm posting from my phone, but here's a link to my thread for my N scale Road vehicles http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/82521-jos-n-gauge-road-vehicles/page-1 There's some alternative views, including a before and after side by side of the Oxford repaints, here on my slowly developing new blog http://whitehorsemodelmaking.blogspot.com/2018/01/flashback-friday-no1.html?m=1 Jo Edited June 18, 2018 by Steadfast

BernardTPM
A couple of conversions I did circa 1981 for Brigenshaw (set in 1978). An ERF B artic and a Royal Mail Marina van both from heavily reworked Wiking models.

bridgiesimon
ok, some piccies now sorted - Firstly a rebuilt flatbed trailer based on one of the Tomitec lorries, really need to repaint the wooden bed, not looking that good. Next is one of the oxford diecast breakdown lorries, same one as Javlinfaw7 showed above, I scratchbuilt a unit to go on the back to replace the bloomin 'orrible lump of gunk OD put on there but I have used the OD hanger and hook which is not bad - Less of a conversion and more of a post army use is this, an ex US Army lorry from a Revell 1:144 kit, I had memories of 'Darling Bubs of May' in mind when I did this. Given it a detailed load with a boat etc - Finally, the work in progress (for a long time) the simulator lorry. This is a Tomitec lorry with a scratchbuilt plastikard body and a shaped wooden block for the pod on top. Paint job fully completed and just waiting for the transfers for to finish it. I have designed the transfers for RAF Red Arrows etc to go on it but need to get them printed and added. Best wishes Simon
BernardTPM
Nice work. Just a minor point on the Hinos; those sold in the UK don't have the small lower window, instead they have a blank recess there.
bridgiesimon
interesting point Bernard, one I had no idea about but not a difficult detail to sort out, thank you for the info. Best wishes Simon
