Abandoned engineering (Yesterday channel)

I just stumbled across this.  S2 Ep5 is about Canfranc station high in the Pyrenees, somewhere I'd never heard of before.

 

It's available on catch-up (on Sky anyway).  Several other progs in the series may be of interest, though I think this is the only one that's specifically railway.

My VW camper owning son and his family happened upon it about 4 years ago; I'd previously wanted to investigate when staying near Hendaye a decade or so ago,having read about it in a Michelin Green guide, but there was more than enough to probe closer at hand.

I think the final nail in it was not the bridge collapse but the imminent intro of quick change of gauge technology (did this arrive in the 60/70s?).
