MeridienneExhibitions
THE INTERNATIONAL N GAUGE SHOW SATURDAY 8th & SUNDAY 9th SEPTEMBER 2018 WARWICKSHIRE EVENT CENTRE The 2018 International N Gauge Show is rapidly taking shape and continues to be the only exhibition dedicated to N Gauge Modelling at its best, attracting nearly 3,000 enthusiasts every year. Organisers expect over 40 specialist suppliers to be present, showcasing all the latest models and products, making it THE place to visit and stock up on all the models and materials any model rail enthusiast could ever need. There will also be over 30 layouts on display depicting Modern, Steam, American, and Continental layouts, as well as 4 of the leading societies for N Gauge enthusiasts. Some of the layouts attending include; Depot de Camions This layout was inspired by a visit to a model railway shop in Lucerne Switzerland. For sale was a set of wagons and vehicles modelling the “rollende landstrasse” or rolling highway as it is referred to in English. This “rolling highway” moved lorries across Switzerland by train. The layout was then imagined, developed, and finally built and named temporarily Depôt des Camions. The lorry depot is set near or in the third of Switzerland that has French as the main language, which means I can run my French rolling stock on the layout. The imaginary site is near to the outskirts of a large town on a main railway line, so allowing running both main line and suburban stock. The lorry trains are in reality of considerable length, twenty or more wagons behind the coach carrying the lorry drivers. Moorside Valley This is a fictional heritage railway based in the heart of the North Yorkshire Moors. The season is winter, and it is around the time of Christmas, so heavy snow fall is present all over the railway. The railway used to be a bustling junction, with connections up the moors and down the coast to Whitby. Most lines are now gone, leaving a single heritage section across the moors, and dual track section down the mainline to the coast. A lot of traction can be seen on the moors, with the vast majority being steam, from small locomotives such as terriers and pannier tanks, up the large pacifics of the LNER and LMS. All locomotives seen on the layout are preserved examples which have in some cases been renamed and renumbered and can be seen running anywhere in real life at various railways. This is a hugely popular specialist railway exhibition and totally focuses on N Gauge. Nowhere else can you see and enjoy the N Gauge scale in such volumes of either layouts or exhibitors making it the only place to see all things N Gauge.
