dcross22
Hi All I have an old style Farish Split Chassis Deltic that i have just converted to DCC. the motor barely runs forward and wont run in reverse at all, just had a new motor as old one has been playing up. motor runs when disconnected from chassis and on analogue. Chip connected to another loco whilst still picking up from the Deltic chassis sat on a rolling road, works fine. both bogies appear to roll freely. The chip is a Zimo 616 decoder. has anyone experienced this before, and if so how did you fix it. David
RMweb Premium Steven B Posted August 6, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 6, 2018 Is the motor in the other model the same type as in your Deltic? Is the motor 100% isolated from the chassis? Have you tried turning off BEMF within the decoder? Steven B.

Hi Steven Thanks for the suggestion of the BEMF turn off, i will give this a go and see how it affects it. the loco i tried it on was an old style farish china Jinty, so a similar age of model. Nigelcliffe
Don't turn off BEMF on a Zimo decoder. Yes, you can do it, but why fit one of the best decoders for motor control and then remove most of its motor control capabilities ? Work out what's wrong - electrically, mechanically, or settings. Older Farish designs can be very particular on how things are assembled, a small change in the tightness of some screws can alter a chassis from terrible to superb.
