Chester TMD

Hello all,

I have having a go at making a copy of one the sheds that was at the Chester TMD

I decided on the middle shed as it had been around since at least 1911 and have come up with this so far this:

Most of the views that I have are from this side, now I'm trying to work out what is happening on the back ...

Here is an overhead view, it's the blue bit I'm not sure on (this will be facing the rear of the layout so I'm not too precious on it being identical as long as its the right shape):

From these two photos it doesn't look like it's got a sloping roof, but it was there at least since 1911 according to os maps, would a flat roof have been used then?

Right hand side of top view

This is with the same height wall as the edge of front and does look at bit like the picture above.

Thoughts?

Was there a walkway part way up the roof slope on either side? It looks slightly stepped rather than just a straight peaked roof

This is quite an interesting photo:

It does look like there were two walkways but they seem to be parallel to roof i.e. also have a slope. At the top is does seem raised I assume to let smoke out ...

These two photos suggest that it might have been symmetrical.

It was part of the old Great Western shed heavily modified over the years. It would almost certainly be of a standard design. Look at Didcot for the similarities.

I know there are detailed trackplans and dimensions in the GWR Engine Sheds book by ET Lyons.
