RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted September 14, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted September 14, 2018 Hi everyone, In a conversation in a model shop we got talking about the Bachmann Coal Tank, and the subject arose of renumbering the LNW one. I've had a look online but couldn't find a manufacturer - any ideas? More about curiousity than need. Thanks and regards, Alex.
Quarryscapes
London Road Models. I also have Plate 84 left from the days where i planned to introduce LNWR numbers but they proved unpopular. I don't think that was for a Coal Tank though.
Steamport Southport
247 Developments. https://www.247developments.co.uk/PRE_GROUPING_1.html The LNWR Society also have a few left. http://www.lnwrs.org.uk/Modelling/4mmpcplates.php Jason Edited September 14, 2018 by Steamport Southport
RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted September 15, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 15, 2018 Hi again, Thanks for those suggestions and links; both very helpful. I had looked on the LNWRS site but hadn't noticed that particular page (need to go to Specsavers!). Thanks again. Regards, Alex.
Crantock
I would go for 247. The LNWR ones are old technology, note the “require cutting to shape etc”. I have used both.
RMweb Gold Wellyboots Posted September 16, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 16, 2018 Narrow Planet do custom LNWR number plates, they etch the number of your choice which is useful if the number you want isn't available from other sources. Steamport Southport
I would go for 247. The LNWR ones are old technology, note the “require cutting to shape etc”. I have used both. I definitely agree. I put the LNWRS ones in for completion as they might have one that someone needs. Particularly the namers as many of the alternatives don't do the names. I've got a rather fine set of 247 ones for Charles Dickens. It's just a pity that I haven't got the loco for them to go on yet and GEM kits aren't currently available. I'm toying with getting the Brassmasters version, but would prefer the GEM kit if it reappears. Jason
stevejjjexcov
Jackson Evans used to do some lnwr plates. Don't know who has them now though
Steamport Southport
I would assume that Modelmaster still have them. Not currently available though. https://modelmaster.uk/103-4mm-scale-pre-group-minor-railway-nameplates Jason
Devo63
A couple of years ago I picked up a couple of sets of plates for my "Watford" tanks from London Road Models. It may pay to drop them an email and see if they have anything suitable for the coal tank as they have a kit for these in their range. From memory they were priced at £2.50 per set. Dave R. LRM still supply LNWR plates, pre-painted and "fully" etched, only needing small tabs cutting through to remove them. Prices at £2.50 a pair (see bottom of LNWR loco kits page on website). Contact John at LRM through the website; https://traders.scalefour.org/LondonRoadModels/contact-us/ It might help to give him several "choices" of numbers, as they are stored numerically in a display box for shows but he doesn't have an up to date list. RMweb Premium Alex TM Posted September 25, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted September 25, 2018 Hi again, Sorry for the delay in responding; I've been away for a few days, and had no reliable internet access. Thanks for all the further suggestions. Regards, Alex.
Jol Wilkinson
I checked with John at LRM at the weekend, He has run out of Coal Tank number plates, so don't send him an enquiry. He still has others for various classes.
