rue_d_etropal
I was asked a while back if I could deign some 3D printed models of the rolling stock used on the narrow gauge line which used to be at RAF Calshot. The wagons are similar to WDLR A types, but it was easier to start again. I have now done them. The open and closed ones are based on drawings done by Roy Link. The Officer wagon is estimated from photos. There was another wagon, fully enclosed for freight, but have not seen any photos. , Edited September 20, 2018 by rue_d_etropal

rue_d_etropal
I should have really got started on these before the RAF centenary, but for some reason I could not get started. There is so little info on the line, so any model would increase interestand hopefully more info would come out. One thing that puzzles me is why they painted Douglas RAF blue, when i reality the locos were painted green. Suppose it looked good for the centenary, even though it was factually incorrect. Hopefully interest in post WW1 railways will also increase as we move away from WW1/RAF centenaries.
Guest
I know it's wrong, but Douglas does look damn good in RAF colours! And yes I would love to see more layouts being done of military subjects. I got a book a while back called Wings on Rails about the railways serving the RAF's various stations and bases, and it is full of very useful info but sadly lacking in photographs of much of it. There was a nice picture though of a train at Calshot consisting of your wagons loaded with personnel and a Barclay. - Alex Edited September 21, 2018 by Guest
