Guest mydadstoys
Morning I am planning to build a miniature diorama in n gauge for photographing my n gauge diesel locos. The size of the diorama is 200mm x 65mm and will incorporate one length of track some ballasting and scenery work along with oil drums tools and workmen. I know this is really small buts it’s ideal for showing my engines.

luke the train spotter
Sounds good. Are you going to incorporate a back drop/scene I find when photographingy models they are essential to adding realism and a great depth to a narrow scene. Guest mydadstoys
Hello Luke with my diorama being modelled around diesel locomotives I will be using a low relief wall as part of the back drop but I will also have the usual items that are used within a diesel yard setup. I know my diorama is small but I should be able to fit in a diesel fuel point I hope it sounds ok.
Guest mydadstoys
Hi I have done some work on my photographic diorama over the last couple of days. As you can see I built the diorama board and added the brick walling around the edges the wall has been painted and weathered and I am waiting for a buffer stop and diesel/ oil tanks to arrive which will be situated nicely at the front of the diorama. I managed to upload some of pictures.

Guest mydadstoys
Morning completed the ballast work this morning but needs to dry now before I weather it to replicate oil spillages. I’m stuck on what colour I should paint the wood frame of the diorama any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. One picture uploaded of the ballast work. Possibly you could varnish it but I'm not sure how that would look - probably too shiny.
bazzer42
Looking good, I would go matt black as well.

Charlie586
Looks good. Can I ask what supplier the ballast is? I'm trying to work out what sort to get myself and I like the effect.
