Aviation fuel TTA tank wagons

Hi All,
 

I'm looking for as many details as I can find regarding the green TTA tank wagons used by BP for aviation fuel traffic; the same ones which were the subject of a Model Rail limited edition a few years ago.
 

After several years away from modelling I've decided to try my hand at building something in P4. I hope these wagons will make a good conversion and detailing project, based on the Bachmann RTR model with etched walkways and brake details etc. I have some Brunninghaus springs and etched replacements for the molded Bachmann brake levers, but there seem to be quite a few prototype differences which these parts don't capture.

Does anyone have any more detail shots or info regarding these wagons, or know whether any other detailing products are available? The terminology surrounding brake gear etc. still goes mostly over my head at this point which doesn’t help!

Very complex. The earlier 45ton GLW were vacuum braked. These were either scrapped or converted to air brake in the early 1980s. Builds after c1966 were always air braked. Usually they had a conventional leaf spring suspension, but some had independent pedestal suspensions of various types. Separate to the conversion to air brake many had new suspension from the early 1980s - looks like a thin leaf spring by Bruninghaus.

 

There were several builders, although the basic length and position of the filler were the same - so they could all use the same loading facilities - the brake rigging varied between each manufacturer, and each tended to change the arrangements. Similarly ladders and walkway arrangements varied. Of course they carried different commodities so they had different barrel diameters and discharge arrangements.
