RMweb Premium Nile Posted October 2, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) October means ExpoNG ! Torn-on-the-platform
Went to the show a few years ago. I can vouch that it was very good and value for money, even for someone who does not model narrow gauge!

RMweb Premium Nile Posted October 3, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2018 The good news is that Hilda May Avenue is on a bus route. The bad news is that it doesn't go near the Railway station. In theory the journey can be done with two buses, 233 and 429. I'm not local to the area so don't know how practical this actually is. 233
PenrithBeacon
Interesting! What my little screen shot doesn't show because I didn't scroll down is that it takes 14mins just to walk from the station to the venue. The key to this is to turn left when you get to the top of the stairs leading from the platform and not right onto Station Approach as I did last year. See this screen shot of directions for walking: I shall probably take the walking route as 14mins isn't too far. My itinerary will be Underground to Victoria, Victoria to Swanley and then walk. It's always a good show, well worth attending. Edited October 3, 2018 by PenrithBeacon
RMweb Premium Nile Posted October 3, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 3, 2018 That's good to know. I think a lot of people have taken the wrong route and found the walk a lot longer than they thought it would be.

brianCAD
What this visiting colonial has done previously is; take the 233 bus from Sidcup railway station directly into Hilda May Ave (for the Leisure Centre). This allows for visiting Invicta Model Rail to the north side of Sidcup station and for buying that new lathe (yes) at Home and Workshop Machinery in Maidstone Rd near the the Ruxley roundabout. -Brian
Greengiant
Yes, take the St Mary’s Road side exit, takes 10 mins to walk. Martin

RMweb Premium Nile Posted October 26, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 26, 2018 The layout is now packed and ready to go, but this was the scene earlier after some track cleaning.
RMweb Premium Nile Posted October 26, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 26, 2018 That's me setup and ready to go, apart from the leccy to be sorted in the morning. Something new this year, goalposts! They are to route cables over the aisles rather than use the rubber ramps that people kept tripping over.
