Allegheny1600
Big and extremely heavy too! I don't know how heavy the above locos are but the two preserved 'Alleghenies' weight approximately 600T each. Not something to ever attempt to run on a sleepy former branch line! RMweb Premium Colin Posted October 16, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 16, 2018 I should think they have a pretty spectacular appetite for whatever fuel they burn too, hardly cost effective for a heritage line!

I used to spend time with the team there in 1999/2001 before and after the 1999 rail fair. Great memories and a great museum. Lots of presevation around the sacto area, from Rio Vista, Woodlands, Jamestown, Altamont and WPRRM all with a few hours drive of each other. I may drop by again later this year., if work permits me.
