RMweb Gold colin penfold Posted October 21, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 21, 2018 (edited) Here are mine from the big day, and a few more from a bit of linesiding this morning before driving home. I also photoshopped the group photo so I am visible Edited October 21, 2018 by colin penfold
RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted October 21, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 21, 2018 Great to see you all had a great day out on the local line....particularly as the Routemaster was back, a trip in to Broadway looses about 40 minutes without it and there isnt that much time at Broadway in the current timetable As for that SR pot at Cheltenham - that is of course a relic of the project to bring the juice up from Andover via the M&SWJ.... Mulgabill
The crowds were out to welcome Mrs MulgaBill back to Winchcombe Where she promptly told me she had more haulage miles than me with an extra trip, Winchcombe to Toddington behind 35006, and the reverse with 7820. But at least we then got a trip to Cheltenham and Broadway with the Manor. I thought it was noticeable how smooth the running was over the new section of line. With fewer people about I got some clearer pics at Broadway. The new building 7822 running around But don't you think they need a visit from somebody with an airbrush, those sleepers definately need weathering! Ready for the days last departure At Toddington I "had to" get some final pics of the locos Which meant that by the time we were crossing the footbridge, we had to shout to stop them locking the exit gate. So we were pretty much the last to leave. Great to have met some of you and I'm left regretting that we either didn't meet some, or didn't really find the opportunity for a chat. Pretty good reasons for a repeat somewhere, I'd say. Thanks to all who made it happen - see you next time I hope.
RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted October 23, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 23, 2018 (edited) Couple from me: thanks to everyone for the fabulous selection of pics; love those on the viaduct. I can't remember a viaduct....doh! Oh I did enjoy sniffing this beast. The return to Racecourse behind the Manor was lively as well; that good old WR exhaust 'bark' in Greet Tunnel was excellent. This is one of the better railways I have visited. I was very impressed with their operations and friendly staff. The Cafe at Toddington is very good indeed and friendly staff were able to provide a Gluten Free Roll with fried egg and bacon; ummmmm! Good ciders available on the Buffet service on the MN hauled train too. had to keep hydrated you know. The whole concept of this Fayre at the Railway is excellent and I do hope it brought a lot of money in for the Group. There was one stall that was selling GF Cakes of a very high standard; they didn't last past Sunday afternoon. The question to the fireman on 06 was how was the 'round'? The gentleman I then spoke to was due to crew the loco on the Sunday and we chatted about the type of tender which does not have the 'well' tank of the original of this style. A thoroughly lovely day and if you want to stay just 40 minutes away, in a wonderful old early Victorian Villa in Malvern Wells then PM me for details. SWMBO and myself had three days there. I can post a couple of pics from around Malvern, a beautiful place with such interesting history. Thanks to all who took part in this day and may the Wellies be with you. faulcon1
I have an Apple computer and for sideways shots I put them through iMovie and then rotate the image so it's right way up. Did a lot of that on my new kitchen at home.
