david130653
I have just received a new DCC-fitted, Bachmann Ivatt 2-6-0 and during running in I noticed that there are sparks coming occasionally from the centre driver on the Firemans side as the connecting rods pass across the axle. I spoke to Bachmann Technical Support who could not see how this could happen as the axle should be insulated on both sides. If there is not an easy fix I will just have to box it up and ship it back to Bachmann, but if anyone has any ideas why it should be doing this I would be very interested to hear. 34theletterbetweenB&D
It's all pretty tight for space inside these models in order to have enough ballast weight installed for traction, and the likely cause is that a wire has been 'nipped' between body and chassis block, and a casting has cut through the wire insulation to give direct metal contact. That may well also make it rather difficult to remove the chassis, so return to Bachmann for rectification may be the best course.
david130653
Thanks guys. I had come to the conclusion I need to return it, I was just curious as to where the fault came from. Regards, David
