Modelmania, Bristol

It's nice to give a plaudit to a trader when it's deserved.

I ordered a Coopercraft O Gauge wagon kit from this company via Ebay mid/late afternoon Friday. To my amazement it arrived first thing Saturday morning.

OK, some of the credit is undoubtedly due to the Post Office, but Modelmania certainly couldn't have dispatched the item any quicker.

Just to let everyone know, the shop is closed, and a note on the door says it has been since the 7th. The window shelves are still stocked with (albeit slightly sun-bleached) products, so it looks like it might change hands rather than be being completely closed down. (Ie there is still stuff in the window which would be gone in a closing down sale or removed to discourage theft if being sold off online).

It is closed, but I when I was last there I was told that the stock is being kept and taken around the exhibition circuit for the next year and then a decision will be made.

I think it will close down completely with an exhibition stand doing the rounds. Shop unlikely to re-open based on what I've heard. Sad but that's the way of things..thanks to Brian for many years of happy shopping...

Glad I've seen this. Was planning on taking a trip there on Saturday. No idea where my next closest model shop is. Based in Yate. North Bristol

Maybe will take a trip into Bristol city centre. Many thanks. What's it like in details?

Yes definitely not going to reopen Brian has reached the age that he wants to enjoy life whilst still breathing, I understand a trip down the Rhine and interailing is currently being enjoyed with hi wife Judith

Preservation fan don't get to excited about Antics in the centre of Bristol the train stock kept just about fills two racks and one glass cabinet

It's OK as a general model shop - plastic kits of all subjects, radio control, diecasts, paints and materials, tools and model railways - but as Graham456 points out, there's not an awful lot of it, so don't make a special trip hoping to stock up on lots of railway items!

An hours drive, but East Somerset Models at West Cranmore, 00 & N specialists ans a bit of 0. Combine it with a trip to the East Somerset railway.
